G*d

I just asked my roommate what the story is with spelling God as G*d - he's quite familiar with Orthodox Judaism.   He said it's a wild card, so that when God googles himself to see who's referring to him, he'll get a bunch of responses about gourds and guards and gold.  I'm not sure that this is strictly correct, but it seems plausible.
